Kayla Schiltgen, Artistic Director
Kayla Schiltgen is an artist, teacher and youth worker with a passion for sharing the performing arts.
Kayla grew up in Hugo, Mn. She began dancing at the age of three. Whether it was playing sports, dancing, theater, or showing animals in 4-H, Kayla has always had a passion for moving. Kayla holds a B.A in Dance, Youth Studies and Leadership from the University of Minnesota. Currently, Kayla performs with the Sage Award winning company Eclectic Edge Ensemble and in many freelance projects. She has also performed with Alternative Motion Project and Paula Mann's Time Track Productions. She also serves as the Theater Director at Mahtomedi High School.
Kayla’s modern choreography has been performed for the American College Dance Festival’s Gala Concert where she was selected to represent the University of Minnesota Dance program. Her work has also been shown in the Dances of the Lakes Festival and Minnesota Fringe Festival. Her theater choreography can be seen in University of Minnesota Operas and around the metro area at high schools and community theaters. Her musical theater work has received several Hennepin Theater Trust Spotlight Awards.
Kayla has been teaching dance and choreography for the past ten years and has worked with ages 3-80. She was recently honored as a Teaching Star by students at Park High School.
Kayla loves the way movement can speak and tell stories. Kayla believes that with a little encouragement and invested energy every person can find confidence and the artist within.
